The “Media Literacy: Understanding and Application” course, jointly organized by Thai Binh Duong University and the United States Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City, has offered an enthralling and enlightening educational journey.
This 3-day course, which took place from July 31 to August 2, 2023, at Thai Binh Duong University, was tailored for teachers and English language instructors. The attendees received full scholarship support and were awarded certificates issued by the United States Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City.
Dr. Elizabeth Plummer (American College of Education, USA) graced the course with her direct instruction during the three days of “Media Literacy: Understanding and Application.” Drawing from her extensive teaching experience at various educational institutions in the United States and abroad, Dr. Plummer equipped the participants with fundamental knowledge of communication, elucidated the utilization of media to foster high-order thinking skills and how to disseminate knowledge within academic communities.
Miss Bach Thi Thanh Phuong (Le Duan High School, Buon Me Thuot City, Dak Lak) shared her enthusiasm in learning from Dr. Elizabeth and esteemed educators from other high schools. She expressed her heartfelt appreciation for the wholehearted support provided by Thai Binh Duong, ensuring that all matters, including dining and transportation, were meticulously taken care of. She ardently looks forward to participating in more enriching experiences at the TBD campus.
The “Media Literacy: Understanding and Application” course proves invaluable in its practical applications to professional pursuits, learning endeavors, and everyday life, especially in this digital age. Under the guidance of Dr. Elizabeth, theoretical knowledge was seamlessly integrated with interactive exercises, enabling participants to effectively apply media in their lives and studies. This encompasses harnessing various media outlets, such as broadcasting, television, press, and the internet, to access and manage information, create and share digital content, communicate and collaborate with others, problem-solve, and refine personal growth.
