This esteemed scientific symposium, entitled “Knowledge and Systems Engineering,” was jointly organized by Thai Binh Duong University and the University of Technology – Vietnam National University, Hanoi.
The conference has captivated the participation of numerous distinguished scientists
The 14th edition of the “Knowledge and Systems Engineering” International Scientific Conference – KSE 2022, has been graciously hosted by Thai Binh Duong University from the 19th to the 21st of October.
Notably, the event featured the prominent presence of four distinguished scholars who played key roles in its presentations. These revered individuals included Professor LAU Hoong Chuin from the National University of Singapore’s School of Business; Professor Tojo Satoshi from the School of Information Science at JAIST (1995-2000); Professor Nitesh V. Chawla from the University of Notre Dame; and Professor Su Nguyen from the Center for Data and Cognition (CDAC) at La Trobe University, Australia.
In total, KSE 2022 received 60 submissions from nearly 100 scholars and researchers, both domestic and international. The presentations encompassed an array of captivating themes, covering domains such as Cybersecurity, Natural Language Processing and Text Mining, Machine Learning, Multimodal Data and Cross-Domain Applications, Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition, Software Engineering, Computational Biology and Bioinformatics, Intelligent Systems and Knowledge Presentation, Next-Generation Linked Computers, Applications of Business Analytics and Operations Research, and more.
On the event’s first day, Professor LAU Hoong Chuin – the National University of Singapore, shared invaluable insights on the topic, “When Machine Learning Meets Combinatorial Optimization: Real-Life Applications in Transportation.” These are indeed subjects of great interest, yearning to be widely disseminated. Professor LAU Hoong Chuin expressed, “To me, KSE represents an excellent opportunity to meet and connect with brilliant scholars in the fields of information technology and artificial intelligence. Simultaneously, it serves as a platform for me to share my latest research findings in this domain with the scientific community.”
The most reputable scientific conference in Vietnam’s realm of information technology
KSE is the most reputable scientific conference in Vietnam, particularly in the realm of information technology, with a legacy dating back to its inception in 2008, held in countries such as Japan and Thailand. The conference is technically sponsored by the world’s premier scientific and technical organization, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), and its proceedings are indexed and published in IEEE Xplore, a highly esteemed electronic library referenced and cited extensively in studies related to electronic and information technology. Consequently, this has amplified KSE’s allure, attracting numerous scholars to submit their scientific research outcomes for presentation, while also drawing the participation of businesses eager to learn and share cutting-edge technologies.
Beyond the main conference sessions, KSE 2022 extended invitations to scholars to submit research papers to six special sessions jointly organized by institutions and universities worldwide. In parallel with the submissions, KSE continued the esteemed Automated Legal Question Answering Competition (ALQAC 2022), which had previously been successfully hosted in Thailand, incorporating two languages – Vietnamese and Thai – for legal document queries. This year, ALQAC received sponsorship from Zalo AI, providing data and prizes to infuse the competition with additional competitiveness, allure, and practical applications.
Presenter Nguyen Thu Trang, a lecturer from the University of Technology – Vietnam National University, expressed, “KSE is an incredibly enriching and stimulating conference with captivating content. In this year’s gathering, I presented on the topic ‘Ensuring Software Quality,’ with the aspiration to share my own research findings with those who are interested in the field of software quality assurance. Furthermore, I am eager to learn from fellow presenters and other researchers, thereby developing my own projects and seeking fresh ideas.”
This year’s KSE featured a comprehensive award structure comprising four categories for authors and author groups:
1. Best Paper Award: “EndoUNet: A Unified Model for Anatomical Site Classification, Lesion Categorization, and Segmentation for Upper Gastrointestinal Endoscopy”
Authors: Manh Nguyen Duy, Hang Dao Viet, Long Dao Van, Hung Le Quang, Khanh Pham Cong, Oanh Nguyen Thi, Thuy Nguyen Thi, and Sang Dinh Viet.
2. Best Student Paper Award (Group of Student Authors): “LG-Hand: Advancing 3D Hand Pose Estimation with Locally and Globally Kinematic Knowledge”
Authors: Tu Le-Xuan, Trung Tran-Quang, Thi Ngoc Hien Doan, and Thanh-Hai Tran.
3. Runner-up Best Paper Award: “A New Approach for Vietnamese Aspect-Based Sentiment Analysis”
Authors: Binh Nguyen, Bao Le Hoang, Hoang Nguyen Minh, and Phuong Nhi Nguyen Kieu.
4. Runner-up Best Paper Award (Group of Student Authors): “Approximation Methods for a Nonlinear Competitive Facility Cost Optimization Problem”
Authors: Ngan Ha Duong and Thuy Anh Ta.
According to Dr. Nguyen Ba Hung, the Chair of the KSE 2022 Organizing Committee (Head of the School of Economics and Management, Thai Binh Duong University), the chosen reports and presentations at the conference reflect the diversity of scientific research activities in the field of information technology, undoubtedly contributing positively to the scientific community within this domain, fostering the development of information technology, and propelling the era of digital transformation.
It is worth noting that all papers presented at KSE 2022 underwent a rigorous evaluation process involving at least three independent reviewers, focusing on originality, scientific quality, and technicality. This process has been planned for publication in IEEE Xplore and indexed in the DBLP and other online digital libraries. Additionally, the conference proceedings will be scored in the list of international conferences by the National Professorship Council and submitted to SCOPUS for indexing.
